On day 4 of our 2019 mission trip in Iraq, we planted trees in Baghdeda. When we arrived, we had 80 trees waiting for us. We started by removing the rubble, planting the tree and packed the holes with fresh soil. We had such an excellent experience. The people in the town came out to see what we were doing, and were excited. You might say these are just trees...what’s the big deal. In Bakhdeda trees help prevent dust, they’re green year round and great for holiday decorations. This is the downtown area where the community gathers. The project was requested by the people of the town. Shlama donors fully funded this project.
