Haitham was born and raised in Toronto, Canada to parents from Mosul and Alqosh. His work in the community began in 2020 when he joined the Assyrian Policy Institute (API), working on various research projects and reports. He then joined the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union (ACSSU) of Canada as a member of the “Assyrian Advocacy Series”, and later joined Shlama as a Human Resources volunteer before moving into the role of Human Resources Director.
