Support Our Troops

Protecting our ancestral lands is essential to making sure that we preserve our presence. Our troops are on the front lines every day making sure that our lands and people are protected. Shlama supports these brave troops with non-lethal aid.

FURNISHING AN NPU VOLUNTEER'S HOME AFTER RETURNING TO HIS TOWN OF KARAMLESH

Jalal, his wife and their four children ran away from their town of Karamlesh in 2014 after the Islamic State took over. During the war to take back the region, Jalal volunteered with the NPU and helped the fight to win back their land. Now that he has returned, he needed much help to furnish their home. Shlama provided an AC/Heater unit, washing machine, freezer, tables, water purifier, microwave and other kitchen appliances.

FURNITURE FOR NPU SOLDIER RETURNING TO HIS VILLAGE

Meet Rami, an NPU soldier. In 2006, while living in Baghdad, Rami was kidnapped, and forced his family to sell everything they owned in order to pay ransom. After being held for months, he was finally let go when the money was paid. The family fled to Karemlash, and settled on a new more quiet life, where Rami married and began to have a family of his own. In 2014, Islamic State forced them out, and once again they had nothing, settling as displaced in Hawdian village, Erbil for 4 years. During that time, Rami listed himself as a soldier for the NPU, fighting to take Nineveh Plains back. Now ready to bring his family back to Karemlash, he needed financial help. Shlama provided brand new bedroom set, stove, washer, TV, heater.

CAFETERIA ROOM FOR NPU SOLDIERS

We helped out the brave Nineveh Plain Protection Units - NPU. For years now the men eat their food in a tent. We assisted the men by purchasing more than 500 blocks to build a room to eat in. These men serve for a very low salary. It's important that we stand with them.
