Spring 2019 Mission Trip

Volunteers will spend two weeks rebuilding the homeland with their own hands through The Shlama Foundation. They will get a chance to see some of the projects that we have completed over the last four years and the lasting impact on the families who live there. The trip is a research and humanitarian trip intended to impact the preservation of an endangered ethnic minority in northern Iraq belonging to various sects of Christianity.

The first half of the trip will be spent on volunteer projects near southern Nineveh, and the second half of the trip will be spent on projects around northern Nineveh. Volunteers will gain a deep understanding of the current humanitarian needs and conditions of Nineveh and will be required to complete research assignments. The experience will include the celebration of Akitu, where volunteers will join an outdoor festival filled with many ethnic traditions of the Assyrian people. Volunteers will get a chance to meet with the families they are helping and other youth leaders in the homeland.
